For the cook who was shut out of one kitchen years ago and has been cooking smaller ever since.
It's about four in the afternoon and the courtyard is in shade, which is when you start. Onions down first. A pan you've had for eleven years. Bread that will be finished by the time people come through the gate at seven.
You do this three times a week and you do it well. Nobody who has eaten here has ever left thinking it was ordinary, and several of them come back specifically for the thing with the lemon that you've never written down.
There's a kitchen across town where you were not welcome, a long time ago, for reasons that were never explained and were probably about somebody's cousin. It had a steel bench and a proper extraction hood. You thought about that room every day for about two years.
One kitchen refused you and you have carried that refusal as though it measured your cooking. Scripture says God filled skilled people with wisdom of heart for every kind of making, while the Holy Spirit is at work in a courtyard pan that nobody has ever inspected.

What That Door Actually Measured
Be exact about this, because a refusal carries more weight when it stays vague.
It measured who somebody wanted in a room. That's the whole of it. It did not measure your hands, your palate, or your bread, because nobody in that building ever ate anything you made. A door is a statement about a door.
You've known that in your head for years. What you haven't done is get it out of your body. That's why you cook three times a week for people you love and have never once offered to cook for anything larger. It's why the word professional makes something in your chest close slightly.
There's a tell in the way you talk about it, too. You say you just cook a bit at home. Nobody who has eaten at that table would describe it that way, and you've been using that sentence for so long that you no longer hear it as a retreat.
A closed door measured a room's arrangements, not your skill. The written Word says God filled makers with wisdom of heart, while the Holy Spirit gives an assessment that a decision about a steel bench was never able to touch.
That's the release, and it's available now, and it does not require the person who made that decision to say anything.
The Version With a Name in It
There is a way of telling this that names the kitchen, and it is not the way this goes.
It would name the kitchen. It would make the case, which you could make in two minutes, because you know exactly whose cousin it was and what year it happened. It would leave you angrier, more convinced, entirely unchanged, standing in the same courtyard with a heavier chest.
That version is also usually wrong on the facts. Most exclusions are made of convenience and habit rather than malice, which is a poor foundation for a grievance and a very common cause of one anyway.
You can be released from what a door did without prosecuting the people behind it. Scripture rests your standing on what God has opened rather than on what anybody owes you, while the Holy Spirit takes weight off a person instead of adding to it.
Nothing here asks you to go back, demand entry, or explain yourself to anyone. The courtyard gets lighter, and no one else has to move first.
Where You Are Already Standing
Look at what is actually in front of you, because you've been measuring your life against a room you were never in.
There's a courtyard with a gate, a table that seats nine at a squeeze, and a pan that has cooked more good meals than that steel bench ever saw. There are people who come through that gate every week and would tell you it's the best part of theirs.
Count the actual output for a moment, because you never have. Three evenings a week for fifteen years is something over two thousand meals, cooked by hand, for people whose names you know.
The kitchen across town serves strangers who will not remember the room. That is not a criticism of it. It is simply a different trade from the one you have been quietly running in the shade at four in the afternoon, and there is no measure on which yours comes second.
Nobody has to let you into any of that. It's already yours. The boundary that has shaped fifteen years of cooking is around a building you do not need and were never called to.
What God gave you is already under your hands, in the place you are already standing. The written Word calls skilled making a filling from God rather than a permission from a building, while the Holy Spirit is present at a courtyard stove as fully as anywhere else.
Them Hath He Filled With Wisdom of Heart
There's a verse in Exodus about the people who built the tabernacle, and it says where a maker's ability comes from.
> Them hath he filled with wisdom of heart, to work all manner of work, of the engraver, and of the cunning workman, and of the embroiderer, in blue, and in purple, in scarlet, and in fine linen, and of the weaver, even of them that do any work, and of those that devise cunning work. > Exodus 35:35 (KJV)
Read the last clause. Even of them that do any work. Not a short list of prestigious trades. Any work, done by hands that were filled for the doing of it, including the ones nobody wrote down by name.
Now put a steel bench beside that. A building can decide who stands in it. A building cannot fill a pair of hands, cannot empty them, and has never been asked to. The filling happened somewhere else entirely, by Somebody who did not consult anybody's cousin.
Your hands were filled by God, and no room has ever had a vote on it. The written Word calls skilled making a filling from God, while the Holy Spirit keeps that true in a shaded courtyard at four in the afternoon.
It is worth noticing what the passage does not do. It does not distinguish between skilled work done in a good building and the same skill exercised somewhere ordinary. The filling is described as going into the person, and a person carries it wherever they cook.
Which means the steel bench across town was never holding anything you lacked. It was holding equipment.
Equipment is worth having, and it has never once been the same thing as skill.
Skill is what a person carries home at the end of a shift, and no bench has ever been able to keep any of it.
Declare this over yourself
You are in Christ and Christ is in you, so what follows is not a claim made out of your own authority. It is agreement, said back to God in His own words, while the Holy Spirit carries it. How He orders the rest of it is His to decide, and He answers in His own way and in His own time.
Spoken by somebody already secured, and the securing was finished long before this afternoon. What comes of the cooking, and where, is God's.
What He opened is not closed by a door that shut on me years ago, and that door measured a room rather than my hands. The written Word of God says He filled skilled people with wisdom of heart to do any work at all, so what is in my hands was put there by Him and no building was consulted. A refusal in a corridor is not an assessment of a meal nobody there ever ate. The Holy Spirit is at this stove, in this courtyard, out ahead of me. This courtyard was given to me, not taken by me. I carry no charge against whoever stood behind that door. Both feet are on the stone, and every kitchen is God's.
